Gator Detachment 990 and the Devil Dogs of the First Coast Pound in Jacksonville are teaming up to host the Department of Florida's Spring Conference at the Best Western Gateway Grand Hotel in Gainesville from April 11 to April 14.
This will be an event that will help us raise money for our Veteran Foundation, but we need some helpers. If you can sit at a table for an hour or two to either help with registration or just sell raffle tickets, that would be great. See Adjutant/PaymasterJim Hutto as he is coordinating our volunteers.
With it being so close to us, I would encourage everyone to consider going to the Professional Development Program that Friday from about 9am to 4pm where various instructors go over many topics on how the League works.
On Saturday morning, there is typically a flag raising at 0800, followed by a program held by the Chapel of the Four Chaplains. At about 9am there is a Joint Meeting of the League and the Marine Corps League Auxiliary. That is followed by our normal business meeting which is conducted just like our regular meetings. That meeting typically concludes by noon.
On Saturday evening is the banquet, which looks very much like our birthday ball banquet with formal dress.
On Sunday, everyone gets up, eats breakfast on their own and departs. Our duties on Sunday will be to conclude and clean up.
Let's show the League in Florida that the MCL members in our area can work together and get it done.
