Alachua County Veterans Day Celebration
Join us at Veterans Park on Tower Road for the county's annual Veterans Day celebration.
We will begin setup as early as 7:00am which includes claiming one of the first-come-first-serve spots and setting up our tent and table.
The official program begins at 11:00am. This event draws a good crowd each year in support of our veterans, so make an effort to attend.
Attire should be your MCL cover, but you are welcomed to wear any MCL or USMC uniform.
The annual Main Street Harvest Festival is held in downtown Alachua where many vendors, local and otherwise, set up to celebrate the season.
The Marine Corps League will have a table to promote our presence in the community, both showing support for Alachua and also giving an opportunity for more to know who we are and what we do.
We plan to have cards or post cards there for children to write message and sign for our deployed troops. The Military Support Group will send the cards to the troops.
Setup will begin around 8:30am and will be in the general area of the Women's Club.
The Gator Detachment will participate in the annual Christmas Parade in Alachua.
The parade begins at 2pm. We will be arriving and taking our place in the parade lineup at 12pm.
The parade is another opportunity for our group to show our support in the community while giving the parade spectators a chance to acknowledge the service of our Marines and members.
Each year, the national Wreaths Across American program has events held all over the United States where wreaths, donated by corporations including WalMart, are placed in honor and remembrance of our fallen veterans.
The site of this event will be at Forest Meadows East, on Hawthorne Road.
We will gather as a group before the ceremonies begin at 10am.
