The Board of Trustees and the Detachment Staff meet to receive reports, get updates on projects and set the agenda for the upcoming general meeting. The meeting is open to all members.
While this meeting is primarily for the Board and staff, all members are welcomed.
Each month we take time on the third Thursday to have a social event with no business, just hanging out.
Feel free to bring guests. This is an open event.
This month we meet at BJ's Brewhouse on Newberry Road, by the Oaks Mall and right across from North Florida Regional Hospital.
Mark your calendar and plan to join us!
General monthly meeting of the Detachment.
Pre-meeting dinner begins at 6:00pm.
We will always have food for you in the half hour before the meeting. Take the time to get to know other members and get caught up with ones you know.
Business meeting begins at 6:30 pm and ends at 7:30pm.
Come to find out what we are working on, what is coming up, and where you can help. Come to be part of our Marine Team.
Join us at the Best Western Gateway Grand on Saturday, November 14, 2026 for the annual Gator 990 Marine Corps Birthday Ball.
This event will celebrate 251 years of the United States Marine Corps and recognize 250 years of independence as the United States of America.
While this is a celebration by Marines, for Marines, we invite all patriots in our community to help us celebrate and see how the Marines, young and old, revere the legacy of our Corps.
The event will begin with a reception from 5pm to 6pm where you will find appetizers and two cash bars. The ballroom will open at 6pm where you will enjoy a traditional ceremony followed by a full service plated meal of your choice (beef, fish, chicken or vegetarian.) We will also have dessert tables.
After dinner will be live entertainment and dancing, and a raffle for some very nice prizes.
How can you help? Sponsorships are available for $1,000, $500 and $250 (tax deductible as we have an IRS 501(c)(3) exemption.)
We can also accept high quality gifts donated for our raffle.
Gator Detachment 990 of the Marine Corps League is a not-for-profit veteran service organization that serves the communities in Alachua County and surrounding areas. Thank you for your support.
The Gator Detachment recognizes that with the approach of Thanksgiving and the holiday season, it is time to let our officers and members take a break from the business of the detachment and spend this time with family.
We will resume our business meetings on the fourth Tuesday of January 2027.
Until then, from Commandant Matt Yakubsin and the staff of Gator Detachment 990, we hope you have safe and happy holidays.
The Gator Detachment hopes you all had a great Thanksgiving and as the holiday season continues, it is a time where our officers and members take a break from the business of the detachment and spend this time with family.
